72 Hour Survival Kits

These “Grab and Go” kits contain the essentials you need to survive the first 72 hours of an emergency situation.    Keep one at home, at work, and/or in your car.   Custom options are available for businesses and accommodation providers -  we can help you look after your employees and guests!

Mountain House Freeze Dried Food

For nearly 50 years, consumers have continued to choose Mountain House as their favorite brand of freeze dried food for on-the-go adventures, emergency preparedness and survival.  Just add water and wait 10 minutes...and eat! If a heat source is not available, room temperature or cold water can be used.  Because no cooking is needed, these foods require much less water and fuel than most fresh, frozen or dehydrated foods.

LifeStraw Water Filter

The LifeStraw personal water filter, a "Best Invention of the Year" (Time magazine) winner, enables users to drink water safely from contaminated water sources. LifeStraw is ideal for homeowners during emergencies such as local flooding which can contaminate drinking water supplies. LifeStraw is also ideal for campers and hikers who may be drinking from rivers or lakes and are unsure of the water safety. Because LifeStraw is lightweight and compact, it is also great for travelers who do not want to rely on the quality of local water.

Damage from an earthquake and/or tsunami could be catastrophic for our isolated west coast communities.  We cannot rely on the federal, provincial, or municipal governments to be there for us with supplies in the days and weeks immediately after the event.  As residents of the area, we need to prepare to look after ourselves for a minimum of 72 hours, but more likely three to four weeks as resources will first be spent helping those in the more heavily populated regions such as Vancouver and Victoria.

What you need depends on whether or not you live in the inundation zone.  Those of us living at high-ground can stockpile supplies to get us through multiple weeks.  If you live in the inundation zone, you will need a lightweight "grab and go" kit that you can run with to a safe location.   You will also need to arrange for a larger supply store to be kept for you in a safe high-ground location that you can make your way to in the case of a tsunami warning.
